Shayna Hogue joined the APPIL lab in April 2015. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a Bachelor's Degree in Radiation Science as well as ARTT certified in Computed Tomography and Mammography. After graduation she started working full time at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in the General X-ray department where she stayed for two years before transferring to the C.T. department. She worked in the clinical/inpatient C.T. department for two and a half years prior to joining the APPIL lab.
In the Hoffman lab, Shayna's main role is as an Imaging Technologist along with being a research assistant. She performs a variety of daily tasks that include scheduling, quality control, scanning,and analysis. As a technician, scanning is her primary role which consists of human, animal, phantom, and cadaver studies. Data analysis for many nationwide pulmonary studies also plays a major role in her job. This includes performing quality control on scans, interacting with other site coordinators, and checking to ensure that the external sites are abiding by the appropriate study protocols. She enjoys the daily diversity that comes with being a tech in the lab.
